REVELATION SERMON SERIES RESOURCE

Studying the book of Revelation can seem intimidating.

It is full of wild images and some mysteriously clouded prophecies of future events.

But for the last 2,000 years, the book of Revelation has given COURAGE and HOPE to Christians around the world.

While the Apostle John was exiled to the isle of Patmos for preaching the gospel, he received a vision from the Holy Spirit. John later wrote what he saw and sent it as a letter to a group of churches experiencing persecution for their faith and being tempted to give in to the ungodly culture around them.

While Revelation does speak to future events, it is much more than that!

As the church today, we carry the same mission of the gospel as the original hearers of John’s Revelation and can have the same confidence during difficult days.

Revelation is written to bring hope and courage to Christians across generations as it lets us know that we can stand in the face of persecution and trial because Christ has overcome and is coming again.

I am praying that as we gather to worship at Harvest over the next number of months, God will use His Word to empower us to live with supernatural joysteadfast hope, and an unwavering witness as we anchor ourselves in the reality that Christ is on His throne today and has won the victory over the enemy.

With Jesus as our foundation (1 Corinthians 3:11) and in the context of authentic community (Hebrews 10:25), we are committed to the following these 4 PILLARS

CENTRED ON THE WORD

(2 TIMOTHY 3:14-4:5, 2 TIMOTHY 2:15, HEBREWS 4:12)

We believe in the power, authority, inerrancy, and sufficiency of Scripture for life and godliness.

FERVENT IN WORSHIP

(ISAIAH 6, PSALM 95:6, EPHESIANS 3:20-21)

Worship that engages our deepest affections for God and expresses the truth of his faithfulness, glory, and the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.

CONSTANT IN PRAYER

(ROMANS 12:12, COLOSIANS 4:2, EPHESIANS 6:18)

Prayer that is dependent on God and expectant for Him to act based on his character and promises.

COURAGEOUS ON MISSION

(ACTS 20:24, EPHESIANS 6:19-20, JAMES 2:22-27)

Courageously sharing the good news of Jesus by speaking and living out the gospel.
