Membership
Greetings in the powerful name of Jesus!
We are grateful for the way that God is at work in your life and for your desire to be obedient to His leading. We are thankful for your decision to become a part of the Harvest Bible Chapel family, and the purpose of this letter is to help clarify what your next steps are in completing the Membership process.
Below are two scenarios. Please follow the one that best describes your situation:
- If you have already been baptized since becoming a follower of Jesus Christ, please attend our Harvest Essentials classes then submit a completed, signed Membership Application to the Office. We will review your application and set up a short interview. Once your application is approved, your name will appear in the church bulletin for two weeks. After this time, if there are no concerns brought forward, you will receive Membership confirmation letter from our Elders, welcoming you into the Harvest family!
- If you have already accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, but have not yet been baptized, please attend our Harvest Essentials classes, then submit a completed Membership Application to the Office and we will contact you with information about upcoming baptismal services.
We are thankful that the Lord has led you here, and we look forward to getting to know you more in the days ahead.
Membership Commitment
The level of the commitment we make will determine the effectiveness of our joining together. In a society where so few make commitments and fewer still keep them, Harvest Bible Chapel is seeking a group of people who are determined to know the joy that Jesus Christ intended for His body, the Church. To this end we are asking Membership candidates to make the following commitments.
Worship Christ
Philippians 3:3 “...who worship by the Spirit of God, and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh.”
I have, by faith become a follower of Jesus Christ and I have been baptized as a visible demonstration of that commitment. Because a disciple ‘Worships Christ’, I will seek to attend and fully participate in the weekly worship services of Harvest Bible Chapel.
Walk with Christ
Ephesians 4:1 “I...urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.”
Because a disciple ‘Walks with Christ’, I will seek to maintain consistent disciplines of Bible study, prayer and personal witness. I will walk in fellowship with others at Harvest by participating in Small Groups. To maintain our unity in fellowship I will neither criticize not listen to criticism concerning any member of this body and will, when personally offended, speak directly and lovingly with those involved.
Work for Christ
Galatians 5:13 “Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”
Because a disciple ‘Works for Christ’ I will seek a place to serve within Harvest Bible Chapel, and I will financially support the work of Harvest Bible Chapel by faithfully giving back to the Lord a biblical portion of my income.
